Nacon confirmed that Terminator: Survivors won't be released in 2025, as was initially planned. The French company also announced the cancellation of the cooperative mode and the decision to abandon the early access plan. The goal, according to what the studio explained, is to offer a more solid, coherent experience that is faithful to the Terminator universe.
The announcement was made through an official statement signed by the project's creative director, Marco Ponte, just two weeks before the end of the year. Although a new release date wasn't announced, Nacon indicated that it will organize closed tests to continue involving the community.
A project that is being redefined again
Developed by Nacon Studio Milan, Terminator: Survivors had already gone through an initial delay when it moved from 2024 to 2025. Now, the studio has confirmed that it also won't arrive next year.
According to what Ponte explained, the decision was made after several months of internal testing and constant exchanges with players and fans of the saga. The team stated that it has made significant progress in areas such as world design, combat, and narrative, but it considered it necessary to refocus the project.

The intention is to meet the high expectations caused by such an iconic franchise.
Farewell to cooperative mode
One of the most important changes is the removal of the online cooperative mode. The original proposal allowed several players to join forces to survive in a world dominated by Skynet, set four years after Judgment Day.
However, the studio explained that the cooperative mode undermined the experience it sought to build. "In order to offer an authentic Terminator experience, we had to set aside multiplayer," Ponte stated.
The priority has become a strong narrative, an oppressive atmosphere, and gameplay focused on exploration and individual encounters.
Faithfulness to the spirit of Terminator
Nacon emphasized that the universe created by James Cameron is characterized by loneliness, tension, and the desperate struggle against the machines. Maintaining that tone was key in the decision-making process.
Removing the cooperative mode made it possible to reinforce the player's isolation and concentrate resources on polishing the core experience. The studio maintained that it preferred to avoid creative compromises that would dilute the game's identity.
No Early Access and a focus on quality

Another key point is the cancellation of early access. Instead of releasing an incomplete version, Nacon plans to publish a final, polished edition from day one.
This approach entails more development time, but it seeks to respond to a growing demand from players: avoiding premature releases with unfinished features.
As an alternative, the studio will organize closed tests under confidentiality agreements, which will make it possible to receive feedback without exposing an unfinished product to the general public.
Community reactions
The players' response was mixed. Some expressed disappointment over the absence of cooperative mode, while others appreciated the decision to prioritize quality and narrative coherence.
The lack of a new concrete date creates uncertainty, but it also generates expectations. In an industry marked by rushed releases, Nacon's strategy aims to restore confidence and deliver an experience worthy of the franchise.
