The Office of Official Response exposed Kicillof and denied Nation's cuts in medicines

The Office of Official Response exposed Kicillof and denied Nation's cuts in medicines

National investment in high-cost drugs rose 66% and exceeded $226 billion in 2026.

The national government came to the crossroads of Buenos Aires governor Axel Kicillof after he denounced an alleged cut in the delivery of medicines, demonstrating the absolute falsehood of his statements. The response came through the Office of Official Response, which released a statement with detailed data on the increase in assistance

.

The reply came after the provincial president questioned the National Executive after a hearing in the Supreme Court related to funds for the Province. From Nación, they maintained that this is a political maneuver to divert their own responsibilities

in health matters.

According to the official data released, in 2025 the national State allocated $136,269,919,037 to high-cost drugs. For 2026, meanwhile, an expenditure of $226,607,991,248 is projected, representing an increase of 66.29% in investment and an increase of 27.38% in the

number of patients assisted.

In addition, they noted that in the first quarter of 2026 alone, $56,651,997,812 had already been executed, consolidating a trend of greater coverage in critical treatments. These drugs are intended for people with serious illnesses, without coverage and in vulnerable situations.

One of the most important points of the statement is the weight of the province of Buenos Aires in the distribution of these resources. In 2025, it accounted for 55.14% of the total allocated to high-cost drugs and, so far in 2026, it has already received more than $25.5 billion. According to the data, it is still by far the province that benefits the most.

The Government also pointed out that many of these treatments are covered by the Nation when the provinces do not respond or reject requests, which exposes the negligence of local health management. Low-cost medicines must also be guaranteed by provincial jurisdictions, within the framework of

their competencies.

The cross deepens the contrast between the Casa Rosada and the administration of Kirchnerism in Buenos Aires. While the Government of Javier Milei insists on ordering spending and focusing assistance on those most in need, Kirchnerism prioritizes funding militancy and defunding

essential services.
