Oscar Zago broke with PRO and nominated Caruso Lombardi as a Buenos Aires legislator.

The Integration and Development Movement will compete with its own list on May 18, led by the head coach

Shortly before the closing of lists for this year's legislative elections in Buenos Aires, national deputy Oscar Zago made the decision to break his agreement with PRO.

Finally, the Integration and Development Movement (MID), the party he leads, will compete with a separate list on May 18, headed by coach Ricardo Caruso Lombardi.

Until Friday, Zago had expressed to the media his intention to seal an agreement with the center-right former president Mauricio Macri. However, on Saturday he confirmed that he would go on his own.

"We left the alliance because we weren't receiving what we had agreed upon," he explained on the Toma y Daca program on AM750, before formalizing the coach's candidacy.

"The candidate is someone who doesn't come from politics. Fresh and transparent. I think he's going to be a good option," Zago said when presenting Caruso Lombardi, known for his ability to save teams from relegation.

At 11 in the morning, through a video on X, the coach announced his candidacy. "For me, it's something new, many things happened in my life that made me feel I needed a change. Oscar spoke to me, told me to go for it. It's time to take a little leap," Caruso expressed.

"(I will be) accompanied by people who are prepared, I've always relied on Technical Staffs and this is no exception. It's important for people to believe in you. You have to believe in the person on the other side, and I think a merit I've always had is that players believe in me," stated the former coach of teams like San Lorenzo, Racing, Argentinos Juniors, Belgrano, Newell's, Quilmes, Tigre, Platense, among many others. Now, he will take on a new challenge in politics as a candidate for MID.

Zago on the breakup

"Yesterday we left the alliance because we weren't receiving what we had agreed upon in the first days of the week, Monday, Tuesday. I was convinced that we had to unite forces and not divide, but everyone wants to divide and close doors," Zago emphasized.

The deputy explained that his space had proposed a candidate to occupy a place among the top five on the list, but PRO negotiators offered them positions starting from number 15.

"We had an excellent candidate to propose for the top spots, but when they tell you at 4 in the afternoon 'we start from 15', we respond that they shouldn't count on us for bargaining. We, without getting angry, said we are leaving. They are mistaken when one wants to build, others want to destroy," he remarked.

Zago also assured that the MID's candidacy, in his view, represents a "challenge" for PRO. "When we hit the field, they got complicated. Because we are going to be a winning option. Of course, they are in trouble," he considered.
