An outrageous and terrifying incident took place early Monday morning in the Alto Alberdi neighborhood, very close to downtown Córdoba.
A 26-year-old man ransacked a house and then set it on fire.
However, the most serious part of the matter is that he is a neighbor who knew the victim, since hours earlier they had greeted each other cordially, as they did every day.
Gabriela García is the neighbor from the neighborhood and the victim, who recounted what happened in tears.
"When I left for work, he was sitting in front with his girlfriend. I greeted him:"Bye guys, bye kids," because that is how I address them. He answered me:"Bye Gabi, good luck"," she recounted.
Robbery and intentional fire in Alto Alberdi
Around 3 in the morning, a phone call alerted the neighbor: her house was on fire.
When she arrived, the fire was devouring the upper floor. She initially believed that it might have happened due to an electrical accident.
However, when they checked the remains, they noticed that belongings such as perfumes, clothes, a TV, and 3.5 million pesos were missing.
Security cameras in the area captured the criminal's actions, since he can be seen carrying bags and appliances to his grandfather's house, where he lives.
An uncle of the thief turned him in
Thanks to the intervention of an uncle of the criminal, who discovered the hidden loot, some items were recovered, but the structural damage was already total.
"He came in to rob me before setting the fire. I know that is what happened because one of the bags he took had clothes and perfumes that were in my closet; if he had started the fire first, he would not have been able to take anything out. I do not understand the viciousness. If you wanted to steal, steal everything from me, but why the fire?" Gabriela asked.
The woman, who doesn't have anywhere to live at this time, shared an alias for anyone who can help her: Gabrielagr64.mp
