This Monday, May 25, the traditional grill El Tano de Avellaneda wanted to celebrate its 25th anniversary with an event that promised to be historic: the largest pizza flank steak sandwich in the world. The turnout was massive, and for much of the day, everything went smoothly with joy and good vibes among families and friends.
However, the patience of some attendees ran out due to delays in delivery, and the event ended in true chaos, with pushing, running, and people jumping over barriers to grab portions ahead of time.
In light of what happened, the owner of the establishment took to social media to share his version. He acknowledged how wonderful the day had been at first and thanked the majority who behaved respectfully, but he did not hold back his frustration over how everything ended.
The Bitter Taste of the End
“Seeing thousands of people supporting and enjoying together was truly a dream for us,” he expressed in the post. He highlighted that for almost the entire day, there was an incredible atmosphere, with families and friends supporting with good energy.
But then came the hardest part: “At the last moment, many people began to lose control, climbing, pushing, and directly going in to take and eat the sandwich before it could be served in an organized manner.” He even lamented that some organizational items were taken away.
The event organizer understood the excitement of the people due to the large turnout but reminded everyone of the effort that had gone into it for months. “Behind this event, there were months of work, effort, and many people giving their all to make it successful,” he pointed out.
Firmly, he described what happened as a lack of respect for those who were working and for those who were waiting their turn calmly. “That it ended this way really looked bad,” he added.
