Petri guarantees the continuity of commercial flights in Río Cuarto

The minister assured that the local airport will not be designated solely for military use and that it will resume its commercial activity in September

The Minister of Defense,  Luis Petri, stated that the Río Cuarto Airport will maintain its commercial operations once the ongoing works are completed. These improvements, aimed at accommodating the F-16 aircraft acquired by the government, will not entail a conversion of the airport to exclusive military use. Petri requested that reassurance be conveyed to local residents, assuring that air connectivity with Buenos Aires will be restored in September.

Currently,  about 50 workers are working on the runway to adapt it for the new aircraft. Despite the temporary suspension of commercial flights, Aerolíneas Argentinas is expected to resume its services in the region in the coming months. The mayors of Greater Río Cuarto have also expressed their commitment to reactivating air connectivity.

Petri emphasized that there will be no issues with flight regularity and that the infrastructure will be compatible with both civilian and military operations. The arrival of the F-16s is scheduled for December, and the presence of national authorities is anticipated at the event.

Unfounded criticism of a strategic investment

National Peronist Deputy Carlos Gutiérrez (Córdoba) questioned the purchase of the F-16s, arguing that it is not a priority compared to other needs. However, this acquisition represents a significant improvement in the country's defense capability, enabling supersonic interception and strengthening national sovereignty.

The investment of approximately $1.3 billion in defense doesn't exclude attention to other critical areas. It is essential to understand that national security is an essential pillar for the country's development and stability. Dismissing this priority reflects a limited view of state responsibilities.

Additionally, the modernization of the Armed Forces aligns Argentina with international standards and strengthens strategic relations with key allies. The acquisition of the F-16s is a sovereign decision aimed at ensuring the defense and well-being of all citizens.

A firm step toward national strengthening

The National Government's commitment to the continuity of commercial flights in Río Cuarto and investment in defense are clear signs of an administration that prioritizes the country's comprehensive development. The modernization of airport infrastructure and the acquisition of advanced military technology are strategic decisions that will benefit the nation as a whole.

It is essential to recognize and support these initiatives that seek to position Argentina as a sovereign, secure, and connected country. Unfounded criticism only hinders progress and diverts attention from the real challenges facing the nation.
