Starting this Monday and until September, commercial flights between Río Cuarto and the City of Buenos Aires are suspended. The measure is due to key works at Las Higueras Airport, aimed at modernizing and strengthening its infrastructure. The renovation includes the runway, lighting system, and general improvements, with a view to receiving F-16 fighter jets from Denmark.
Mayor Gianfranco Lucessi confirmed that the work is part of a strategic project of the National Government. This is an investment of more than 12.7 billion pesos (28 billion pesos), included in the National Budget for this year. The F-16s, symbols of modern air power, will be housed at the Río Cuarto Material Area, which will be upgraded.

Córdoba as a strategic hub for national defense and development
The arrival of the F-16s represents a qualitative leap in Argentina's air capability after years of defense lag. The choice of Córdoba as the base is no coincidence: its location, logistics, and skilled personnel make it a vital enclave. National authorities highlighted the economic impact that the permanent military presence in the region will bring.
