In Yucatán, President Claudia Sheinbaum announced the creation of "Miel del Bienestar". It is a program that seeks to purchase honey from local producers at a "fair price" for distribution in the Tiendas del Bienestar.
The leader took advantage of the flag-off of the construction of the freight transport of the Tren Maya in that entity to make the launch. This project is added to other similar ones like "Chocolate del Bienestar" and "Frijol del Bienestar", all under the initiative "Alimentación para el Bienestar".

A populist program that fosters dependency
Although it is presented as a measure to support small producers, "Miel del Bienestar" reflects the growing intervention of the State in productive sectors, displacing the market and fostering dependency on government subsidies.
Experience shows that these projects tend to be inefficient and prone to corruption, benefiting a few and generating economic distortions. As has already happened with other programs of the 4T, resources end up being diverted while private initiative is punished.
