Polar wave in Córdoba: GNC supply cut extended and affects more than 300 stations
The measure will remain in effect until 2:00 p.m. on Friday and seeks to guarantee residential supply amid the severe cold wave
In the context of the polar wave affecting the country, it was decided to extend the interruption of CNG supply in Córdoba and other provinces until 2:00 p.m. on Friday. The measure affects more than 300 service stations throughout the province and aims to ensure supply to residential households.
From the Confederation of Fuel Retailers (Cecha) confirmed that the distribution system has stabilized in recent hours. However, they warned that the persistence of low temperatures keeps energy demand at record levels.

Historic consumption peak
The episode occurs in a context where Córdoba had already reached its historic peak of electricity consumption this week, according to Epec data. The lack of investment in infrastructure and the tax pressure on the energy sector continue to create bottlenecks.
The increase in residential natural gas consumption, a result of the intense cold, has caused significant stress on the distribution system. For this reason, the authorities extended the interruption of CNG supply to ensure provision to households and prevent further complications during the climate crisis.

Polar wave in Córdoba: record temperatures and roads closed due to ice
The province of Córdoba experienced an intense polar wave that brought temperatures to record lows in recent days. Minimums of up to -15 °C (5 °F) were recorded in areas of the sierras, while major roads remained closed due to the accumulation of ice and snow. This situation caused mobility complications and affected energy demand, which led to the suspension of CNG supply.
During this cold wave, many localities in the province suffered extreme lows, with temperatures dropping below -10 °C (14 °F) in several areas of the interior. In addition, preventive measures were taken, such as the suspension of classes in schools in the capital and the interior, to protect students' health.
