A police officer was seriously injured during the riots that took place in front of Congress as part of the protest against the labor reform promoted by President Javier Milei. The officer suffered a skull trauma with loss of consciousness after someone threw a flowerpot at him from a building located at the intersection of Solís and Alsina. He was rushed to the Italian Hospital of Buenos Aires, where he remains under medical observation.
The incidents occurred while the Senate was debating the labor reform bill. Although the demonstration began in a mostly peaceful manner, a group of hooded left-wing protesters broke away from the main column and began throwing stones, blunt objects, and Molotov cocktails at the police cordon that was guarding the Legislative Palace.

One of the most serious attacks took place when someone threw a flowerpot from a balcony that struck one of the officers directly on the head. The blow caused the immediate loss of consciousness and created moments of extreme tension in the operation. Official sources confirmed that the condition was classified as skull trauma.
In total, more than 50 people were arrested during the day and at least 10 officers were injured: six belonging to federal forces and four to the city force. The National Security Ministry stated that the events were not spontaneous, but rather replied to an organized action by left-wing groups that acted with premeditated violence and used improvised objects to attack law enforcement. Minister Alejandra Monteoliva stated that those responsible will be identified and brought before the courts.
The city government, meanwhile, estimated that the damage caused during the riots amounts to 270 million pesos, including damage to urban furniture, cleaning, and infrastructure repair.

The investigation is already underway and the Government will move forward to identify both those who threw projectiles and those who coordinated the riots. The Security Ministry confirmed that public and private cameras will be analyzed in order to identify those responsible and support the terrorism complaint in federal court.
The injured police officer remains hospitalized. His condition is being closely monitored by the authorities, in an incident that reignites the debate about the limits of protest and criminal liability in the face of acts of violence that put the lives of third parties at risk.
