President Javier Milei is preparing for his first meeting with Donald Trump in Washington.

The president is scheduled to travel to Boston in mid-August, and he will take advantage of the trip for the bilateral meeting

During this month, President Javier Milei will pursue an intense international agenda, in which he will reaffirm his geopolitical orientation. First, he will travel to the United States, where the highly anticipated meeting with Donald Trump is scheduled, and then he will receive the Prime Minister of Israel, Benjamin Netanyahu, in Buenos Aires.

If everything goes as planned by the libertarian administration, the Argentine president will have held, within a few weeks, meetings with the heads of state of the two nations with which the current government seeks to strengthen ties, and whose leaders have already shown signs of rapprochement.

On one hand, Casa Rosada recently signed a letter of intent with U.S. officials to move forward with eliminating the visa requirement for Argentines who wish to enter that country for stays of up to 90 days.

This preliminary agreement is part of a special program to which only 42 countries currently belong, and which requires compliance with strict security standards and bilateral cooperation.

The understanding, which is merely the first step toward obtaining this benefit, which was already in effect during President Carlos Menem's administration, was reached during a visit by Kristi Noem, Secretary of Homeland Security in Trump's administration.

Milei's trip to the United States

Javier Milei plans to travel in mid-August to Boston, in the state of Massachusetts, where he will give a lecture at the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University. That same academic institution received the Minister of Deregulation and State Transformation, Federico Sturzenegger, a few months ago.

This institution, founded in the 1930s, has as its main objective to train future leaders committed to improving public policies and building freer, safer, and more prosperous societies, actively promoting the participation of its students in addressing contemporary challenges.

Nevertheless, the President is considering the possibility of taking advantage of that trip to carry out a state visit. In that context, he would make a stop in Washington, where the highly anticipated bilateral meeting with Donald Trump would take place at the White House, in addition to other official activities.

The meeting would take place not only in the context of efforts to exempt Argentines from the visa requirement to enter the United States, but also following the approval of a new disbursement of 2 billion dollars by the International Monetary Fund.

Meanwhile, the IMF released its update of the World Economic Outlook (WEO), in which it decided to maintain the estimate of Argentine GDP growth at 5.5% for this year.

Through Foreign Minister Gerardo Werthein, who keeps ongoing dialogue with the U.S. Department of State, Milei is finalizing the details to set the date of his meeting with the Republican leader. The possibility of the President delivering a speech at the Capitol is also being considered.

Upon his return to Argentina, Milei will receive the Prime Minister of Israel in Buenos Aires, his other strategic partner on the international stage. Benjamin Netanyahu's arrival is scheduled for the first days of September and will feature a strong security deployment.
