Amazon Prime Video is preparing the first God of War series, with filming confirmed and an epic storyline set in Midgard
Amazon Prime Video is preparing the first live-action series of God of War, based on the saga that has captivated millions of players. The production promises to bring Kratos and Atreus to Midgard with an epic and faithful adaptation of the video game.
The project, approved in 2022 by Sony Pictures Television, Amazon Studios, and PlayStation Productions, will feature ten episodes that will thoroughly explore the Norse world introduced in 2018. The series aims to combine action, drama, and family bonds.

Filming confirmed and strategic location
Filming will begin in March 2026 in Vancouver, Canada, chosen for its versatility and ability to recreate the cold and somber landscapes of Midgard. The production aims to reflect the tone of the recent games.
The team will seek to maintain the visual details that define the saga, from Norse architecture to the setting of forests and mountains.
Plot: father and son on an epic adventure
The story will follow Kratos and his son Atreus as they fulfill Faye's last wish, Kratos's late wife: to scatter her ashes. The narrative blends action with introspection, exploring family bonds, trauma, and redemption.

The series promises to maintain the essence of the 2018 reboot while enhancing the depth of the characters. The relationship between father and son will be the central axis of this adaptation.
Creative team and confirmed showrunner
Ronald Moore, creator of Outlander and For All Mankind, will lead the series as showrunner and executive producer. A team of writers composed of Matthew Graham, Stephanie Shannon, Narendra K. Shankar, Joe Menosky, and Tania Lotia will shape the episodes.
