Taking advantage of the celebration of St. David's Day, the patron saint of Wales, William, the heir to the British throne shared a special message on social media. In it, he fluently spoke a few words in Welsh to congratulate the people of this nation.
His message on St. David's Day
"Hello. Today, on St. David's Day, we come together to celebrate the history, the culture, and the unbelievable people of Wales", William expressed in the video, where he was seen wearing a daffodil, the national flower of the country. "From its stunning landscapes to its language, Wales continues to inspire. Today we celebrate everything magical about Wales. To the people of Wales and everyone around the world: happy St. David's Day".
Learning Welsh, a key decision after his new title
The Prince of Wales's interest in the language became known last year when he revealed he was using the popular app Duolingo to learn it. This initiative came after inheriting his father's title following the death of Queen Elizabeth II.

Charles III had to learn Welsh in his youth with a personal tutor to strengthen the bond with the people who gave his title its name. Although it took a lot of effort, in 1969 he managed to pronounce the first part of his investiture speech in this language. Following in his footsteps, William intensified his relationship with Wales and its culture.
