The left is pushing to eliminate school football and is labeling it as 'violent' while it moves forward with its ideological agenda

The left is once again crossing a line. In Ibiza, leaders from Podemos and PSOE are promoting an initiative to ban soccer in school playgrounds. The argument is that it is a sport that is "discriminatory" and "toxic" for girls.
The proposal is being promoted by Angie Roselló, spokesperson for Unidas Podemos, and Antonio Lorenzo, a socialist leader in Sant Antoni. Both of them seek to extend the measure to the island's educational centers.

Soccer as an "ideological problem"
Roselló argues that soccer reproduces alleged inequalities from childhood. "Traditionally, soccer fields occupy up to 80% of the playground," she stated. The absurdity of her view is based on the claim that "boys use the center and girls are relegated to the margins."
Podemos claims that soccer would be an early expression of the "patriarchy." Instead of soccer, they propose creating "mixed collective play spaces" defined by politics.
La izquierda sostiene que el fútbol es "tóxico y violento"
The initiative doesn't stop at sports, it also aims to redesign playgrounds. "We must remove the concrete from the ground", Roselló said. She proposes trees, water, and mandatory "climate shelters" under criteria defined by municipalities, that is, once again politics intervening.
PSOE supported it without nuances. Antonio Lorenzo even went further: "Soccer is a toxic sports practice". He claimed that it generates coexistence problems and he compared it with other sports to justify the ban.
El PSOE de Pedro Sanchez acompañó la iniciativa
Roselló even described soccer as violent. She said that in some schools it has already been banned, and she mentioned Can Coix and CEIP Sant Antoni as examples. She spoke of "hooligans" and fights, all in order to justify the ridiculous censorship that they are proposing.
A logical response to the delusion
The Partido Popular drew a line. Eva Prats defended the autonomy of the schools. "Banning soccer is a lack of respect", she stated. She recalled something basic: girls can also play soccer.
The left's proposal is even more absurd if one considers the context. Women's soccer is experiencing a historic boom in Spain after the 2023 World Cup. Far from promoting equality, Podemos and PSOE seek to impose an ideological interpretation from childhood.
The left, as always, seeks control and frameworks defined from political power. Instead of expanding freedoms, it once again resorts to banning as an automatic response to any social dynamic that doesn't fit its ideological view.
