The educational institutions of the province of Córdoba will formally integrate cuarteto as part of their mandatory curriculum this school year. This measure was recently made official through Decree No. 257, which recognizes the genre as an essential folkloric root of the region. The regulation applies to all levels and types of education, ensuring that students have access to this cultural and identity-based knowledge.

The pedagogical approach to the musical rhythm will be carried out mainly within the curricular space designated for Arts Education and local music. The Ministry of Education also determined that this content can be addressed in a cross-curricular way with other school subjects of general interest. This way, the aim is for the student body to understand the social importance and historical evolution of this artistic expression that defines the province.

This educational project is based on current laws that assign the provincial State the task of disseminating its own cultural expressions. Education Law No. 9,870 and the Provincial Constitution support the initiative to link local heritage with the education of citizens. Provincial authorities thus intend to ensure that new generations recognize and value the musical legacy that characterizes their community.

A historical legacy with international support

UNESCO's support was a determining factor in elevating the status of cuarteto from a popular expression to an academic subject of significance. During the session held in New Delhi, the international organization positioned this rhythm as an inherent element of the culture of Córdoba. With more than eighty years of history, the musical genre has managed to transcend local borders and obtain unprecedented global recognition.

The new educational regulations also confirm special days to honor the leading figures and milestones of this artistic movement. On June 4, schools will celebrate Cuarteto Day, while on January 12 they will commemorate the regional Jumping Piano Day. This latter date pays special tribute to Leonor Marzano, who is considered the great pioneer and creator of the genre's characteristic sound.

The implementation of these educational programs will make it possible to highlight the urban history that speaks daily to thousands of inhabitants of Córdoba. The provincial government thus assumes an active role in transmitting knowledge about the identity of Córdoba and the sense of regional belonging. Teacher training will also be part of this process to ensure that the teaching of the new content is professional and systematic.
