Quilino: expired drugs were found in the hospital and the Justice Department opened an investigation

A doctor reported the situation, and a search was ordered at the health center to secure evidence and documents

A raid at the municipal hospital of Quilino uncovered the existence of expired medications. The prosecutor of Deán Funes, Analía Cepede, supervised the procedure. At the site, supplies and documentation were seized that will be analyzed to determine responsibilities regarding their management.

The complaint was filed by an on-call physician who noticed the possible administration of expired drugs. Her testimony led to the judicial operation. Investigators are seeking to determine whether patients received those medications and who was responsible for oversight at the institution.

Meanwhile, the Municipality rejected the accusations in an official statement. They claimed that the complaint is politically motivated. Mayor Mabel Godoy even suggested that an opposition leader might have been involved in the entry of the observed supplies.

Complaint and nighttime operation

The physician who filed the complaint was identified as Delfina Lorenzón, who has been working at the hospital for only a few months. According to her account, she had previously warned about the situation without receiving responses from the responsible authorities.

In the early hours of Monday, she decided to formally file the report at the local police station. She stated that during the previous shift, expired medical supplies might have been administered. After that, a judicial procedure was carried out in the building located at Sarmiento and Independencia streets, which lasted several hours.

The mayor recorded a video on social media from the hospital. There, she assured that they had been organizing the pharmacy. The episode caused tension with the area manager and led to the police complaint.

Seizure of supplies and expert analysis

Among the evidence found were anticoagulants, pediatric supplies, and bags with pathological remains. All the material was sent to Córdoba for analysis. The case file includes documentation of patients treated since March 2024 along with audiovisual records obtained during the investigation.

"We are taking statements and analyzing each piece of evidence," Cepede stated. She added, "The complaint is not politically motivated." The case is in the preliminary stage and no charges or arrests have been made yet, but it remains under active investigation.

The Municipality denied that expired medication had been administered. It assured that the seized supplies were intended to be discarded. "We have nothing to hide," they stated in the official statement released after the raid.
