Comeback: Real Madrid lets the league title slip away in the Spanish clásico with Barcelona
The 4-3 defeat against the Culés seems to have ended Merengue's hopes of winning anything locally this season
Barcelona's 4-3 victory in the clásico left them on the brink of a new league title, as winning the next match will make them champions. With four matches remaining in the season, the culés have completely distanced themselves from their immediate pursuers, Real and Atlético.

After starting at a disadvantage with a brace from Kylian Mbappé (5' and 14'), the Catalans would quickly recover and, in just 20 minutes, turn the story around. The first to score would be Eric García at 19, followed by the young prodigy Lamil Yamal at 32 and immediately after with Raphinha at 34.
Closing the first half, the Brazilian would extend the lead to two goals, after a well-disallowed penalty for Real Madrid due to an offside position. In the second half, the merengue team tried everything to reduce the difference, reaching a goal with Mbappé in the 70th minute, thus completing his hat-trick, but it wouldn't be enough.
With 12 points in play and a 7-point difference with their classic rival, Barcelona could secure their 28th title in the next match against Espanyol. The Barcelona classic will be played on Thursday, May 15 at 16:30 (Argentina time) at the RCDE Stadium.

Meanwhile, Real Madrid is on the verge of finishing a season without national titles, all lost to their classic rival. In the Spanish Super Cup at the beginning of the year, the White House fell hard by 5-2, while in the Copa del Rey it was a close 3-2.
Although the Merengue won some important titles in 24/25, such as the UEFA Super Cup and the Club World Cup, the elimination in the Champions League and the local drought leave a bitter taste for Carlo Ancelotti's last season in charge of the team.
