A repeat drug trafficker from Río Cuarto was arrested

After a lengthy investigation by the Anti-Narcotics Prosecutor's Office, he was caught at the terminal

A joint operation by the Anti-Narcotics Prosecutor's Office and the Police Force arrested a repeat offender for crimes related to drug trafficking. After 6 months of investigation, they managed to apprehend him.

Last Thursday, the 53-year-old suspect was caught and arrested at the Río Cuarto terminal as he was about to travel to Canals. He was carrying several doses of cocaine, as well as money, a bus ticket, and other items of interest to the case.

Meanwhile, his house was simultaneously raided, where two other suspects were trying to clean the place and remove incriminating items. There, the police seized 2 kg (4.4 pounds) of cocaine, a pickup truck, money, a digital scale, and various items linked to the sale of narcotics.

On a wooden table, there are several Argentine bills, four cell phones, a digital scale, packages containing substances, a small jar, plastic bags, and signs from the Córdoba Anti-Narcotics Police Force.

The Deputy Secretary of the Prosecutor's Office, Julián Testa, explained: "The investigation took several months. It was quite complex because part of the crime was committed in the city of Río Cuarto and part in Canals, since our main suspect frequently traveled between both locations."

Meanwhile, Testa stated that "his case reached the Criminal Court, which sentenced him to several years in prison. He served his sentence and upon release, shortly thereafter, we were alerted by anonymous reports that he had returned to the same illegal activity."

In this regard, the detainee had already been investigated years ago by the same prosecutor's office, which demonstrates his repeated involvement in this type of crime. In relation to this, the arrested individual had already served a sentence in 2022 for aggravated drug trafficking, for selling to minors.

So far, three people have been arrested, although the involvement of more individuals is not ruled out. The case remains under investigation and further arrests are not ruled out in the coming days.

The two individuals arrested at the residence were charged with Possession of Narcotics for the Purpose of Sale, while the man arrested at the terminal was charged with Sale of Narcotics.
