Ricardo Darín is spending a few days resting with his family in José Ignacio, Punta del Este, and from there he reflected publicly on the chance of moving to Uruguay and leaving Argentina. In an interview with the newspaper El País, the actor appeared relaxed, praised the lifestyle of the neighboring country, and didn't rule out the idea of settling there permanently.
When referring to his connection with the eastern area, Darín highlighted the change the resort has undergone over time and explained what still attracts him to the place. "It used to be a place where people came for the good restaurants and the friendly treatment; now it has turned into a mandatory destination," he pointed out. However, he clarified that his personal experience takes place far from the noise:"We are in a quiet house, very well tucked away."
When he was asked directly about the possibility of living there, the actor was sincere and forceful. "I would stay and live here. I deeply love this place, I love this country and its people, and especially everything we have experienced in this house that we built little by little," he expressed, making it clear that his connection with Uruguay is neither circumstantial nor recent.
Darín also recalled the pandemic period, when he chose to remain in that home with his wife, Florencia Bas."It was the best thing that could have happened to me regarding social distancing: just Flor and me, walking with the dogs along the beach, without running into anyone who told us we couldn't do it", he recounted, alluding to the peace and freedom he found in that very particular context.

In another part of the interview, the protagonist of El Eternauta spoke about an event that his family is going through and that finds him in a particularly emotional moment: the upcoming birth of his grandchild, the result of the relationship between his son, Chino Darín, and the actress Úrsula Corberó. "This thing of knowing that we are going to be grandparents in February is something absolutely wonderful, but the professional side really moves to third or fourth place," he confessed.
The news also arrives in a year marked by pain after the death of his sister Alejandra Darín, which occurred in January 2025. With sensitivity, the actor reflected:"Life is wonderful in some ways and this news, in some way, comes to lift our spirits. These are some of the few extraordinary things that life has: it makes it up to you, almost unexpectedly, although nobody replaces anybody else".
