River returned to work in Argentina after completing a demanding training stage in Alicante, Spain. The millionaire squad resumed training on Tuesday at the River Camp in Ezeiza, and there was an important new development: Rafael Santos Borré has joined the practices.

The Colombian forward, who returns to the club after his time at Inter de Porto Alegre, has become one of the new faces of Eduardo “Chacho” Coudet's team to face the second half of the year.

Borré's arrival was finalized for 2.5 million dollars and represents a significant reinforcement for River's attack. The club welcomed him on their social media with a special message: “The Commander, at home.”

Rafael Santos Borré is already working under Coudet's orders

The addition of Rafael Santos Borré was one of the most anticipated by River fans. The Colombian knows the club, has a successful past with the millionaire jersey, and returns at a crucial moment, with several important commitments ahead.

With his arrival, Coudet adds a high-quality offensive option for a second half of the year that will feature local competition and the Copa Argentina. The forward quickly integrated into the group and began working alongside his teammates in Ezeiza.

So far, the coach already has Mauro Arambarri, Lucas Beltrán, Giovanni González, and Rafael Santos Borré as part of the new pieces of the squad. Meanwhile, River remains attentive to other movements in the transfer market.

One of the names still on the list is Thiago Almada. The management has made an offer to Atlético de Madrid and is awaiting a decision, although the player's situation is expected to be resolved only after the 2026 World Cup.

River awaits Otamendi and defines departures from the squad

While Coudet begins to shape the team for the second half, River is still waiting for Nicolás Otamendi, who is currently competing in the 2026 World Cup with the Argentine National Team. The defender is another strong name that the coach hopes to add once his participation with the national team is over.

On the other hand, Matías Viña also returned after playing in the World Cup with Uruguay. However, his situation is different: the full-back will not train with the main squad but will work with the group of separated players in Cantilo.

Viña's future seems to be away from River. His loan would be interrupted, and the player would have to return to Flamengo, the club that owns his rights. A similar situation could occur with Kendry Páez, who would also be sidelined from the main group while his continuity is defined.
