Robberies in La Matanza have reached the highest level on record.

This fact demonstrates the incapacity and uselessness of the ultra-Kirchnerist provincial government led by Axel Kicillof

Violence and insecurity have reached historic levels in La Matanza, with an average of 90 robberies per day, the highest figure on record, which demonstrates the inability of the ultra-Kirchnerist provincial government of Axel Kicillof to guarantee the safety of Buenos Aires Province residents.

Since 2012, crimes in the Kirchnerist municipality have increased by 120%, consolidating La Matanza as the district with the highest homicide rate and robberies in the province.

Recent crimes, such as the murder of Rita Mabel Suárez (47) in front of her son in Villa Luzuriaga or the death of Esmeralda Bustamante (23) while trying to defend her police officer sister in Laferrere, are evidence of the lawlessness prevailing in the territory governed by Fernando Espinoza, which the Kirchnerist government has failed to reverse.

Official statistics show a very concerning outlook: In 2024, La Matanza recorded an increase of 5.9%, with 143 crimes and 155 victims. The municipality's homicide rate stood at 8.11 per 100,000 inhabitants, well above the provincial average of 4.76.

Robberies also increased by 31% in La Matanza, more than double the provincial average increase (12.9%). Armed assaults, meanwhile, rose by 17% in the municipality, compared to 1.5% across the province. In addition, the presence of firearms in crimes is also alarming: 80.4% of homicides and 28.5% of robberies involve pistols, revolvers, or rifles, far exceeding the averages for Greater Buenos Aires.

Recent cases show that the situation is not showing signs of improvement. Thiago Correa, a 7-year-old boy shot in San Justo; Jorge Cremontti, an Uber driver murdered in Lomas del Mirador; and Luis Gabriel Quinteros, killed by motorcycle thieves in San Justo, are just some of the names of victims that illustrate the severity of the crisis.

The lack of effective policies and the limited police presence, in addition to poor funding and training by the local government, are key factors in this scenario. Meanwhile, Kicillof's administration continues to look the other way, and La Matanza has become the most visible symbol of the Kirchnerist model of society.
