The elimination of Brazil in the round of 16 of the 2026 World Cup against Norway unleashed a wave of criticism, and one of the loudest voices was that of Ronaldo Nazário. Following the 2-1 defeat, the world champion with the Canarinha in 1994 and 2002 directly pointed at Carlo Ancelotti for his decisions during the tournament and also questioned the level shown by Vinícius Júnior.

The former forward did not hide his disappointment at Brazil's early exit and was blunt in analyzing the responsibilities. "I have to be honest, I think this elimination starts with the decisions from the bench", he stated.

While he acknowledged the Italian coach's track record, he felt that his management in the decisive match was misguided. "Carlo Ancelotti is one of the best coaches in the history of football, but tonight he made too many mistakes. I still don't understand why João Pedro was not part of this squad. He has had an exceptional season, he is in shape, and Brazil needed a forward who could offer something different".

Ronaldo also lamented the limited participation of Endrick during the World Cup. "Then you look at Endrick. Every time he came on in this tournament, he brought energy, aggression, and unpredictability. However, he spent most of the World Cup sitting on the bench. I don't understand that", he expressed.

In addition to questioning the coaching staff, the Phenomenon directed his criticism towards one of the main figures of the squad. "Vinícius Júnior also has to take responsibility. We all know how talented he is, but this has not been a good World Cup for him. He never seemed like the player we have seen dominate in club football. When Brazil needed its biggest stars, he never really imposed himself in the tournament".

Finally, Ronaldo acknowledged the merits of the Norwegian team, although he insisted that Brazil made it easier for their opponent. "Norway deserved their victory, let's be clear about that. They were organized, disciplined, and Haaland punished every mistake. But Brazil helped Norway by making poor decisions even before the match started. At this level, one or two mistakes can end your World Cup. There were too many tonight", he concluded.
