Russo builds his Boca: the two new key signings for a packed semester
With the goal of becoming a leading contender again, the head coach is focusing on defensive solidity and greater dynamism on the wings
The reconstruction of Boca is already underway. With Miguel Ángel Russo at the helm for the third time, the club has started making moves to face a semester full of competition, where it will compete in the Club World Cup, the domestic tournament, and the Copa Argentina.
With a focus on regaining its football identity and strengthening key areas of the team, there are already two confirmed reinforcements who will join the squad.
Both players arrive after strong performances in Argentine football, with consistent playing time at their clubs and the intention of covering areas where Xeneize showed inconsistency during the first half of the year.
One of them is Marco Pellegrino, a left-footed center back who had an outstanding performance wearing Huracán's jersey, although his transfer rights belonged to Milan of Italy. The other is Malcom Braida, a wingback with an attacking profile, captain and leader of San Lorenzo, specifically requested by Russo, who has already coached him at the Boedo club.

With these additions, Boca seeks greater defensive solidity and presence on the flanks, two key aspects for the coach's new project.
For Pellegrino, who came up through Platense, Boca will purchase 100% of his rights from Milan for 3,500,000 euros. The Italian club will also retain a percentage of a future sale.
Regarding Braida, the Ribera club activated the 1,200,000 dollar release clause to free him from San Lorenzo. The fullback will sign a four-season contract with Xeneize.
Boca's schedule in the Club World Cup
The Ribera club will be part of Group C in the revamped world tournament, along with Bayern Munich (Germany), Benfica (Portugal), and Auckland City (New Zealand).

Its campaign will begin against the Portuguese side on Monday the 16th at 9:00 p.m. (Argentina time) at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami. Four days later, on Friday the 20th, it will face the Bavarians at 11:00 p.m. in the same stadium and, closing the group, will play the New Zealanders on Tuesday the 24th at 5:00 p.m. at GEODIS Park in Nashville.
