Samsung surprised everyone with the launch of the Galaxy XR, its first mixed reality headset featuring Android XR and integrated Gemini. This new device is aimed directly at the premium segment dominated by Apple with its Vision Pro, but at a much more competitive price.
The Galaxy XR is already available in the United States and South Korea for 1,799 dollars. The controllers and travel case cost an additional 249.99 dollars. For now, there is no confirmed date for its arrival in Latin America.

A new category of multimodal AI devices
Samsung and Google emphasize that the Galaxy XR inaugurates a new category of devices powered by multimodal artificial intelligence, capable of delivering immersive experiences that combine voice, vision, and gestures.
The headset was jointly developed by Samsung, Google, and Qualcomm, with the goal of integrating entertainment and work into a single virtual environment. Unlike Apple's product, the Galaxy XR aims for a smoother, more natural, and intuitive experience.
Gemini, the brain behind the headset
The main feature of the experience is Gemini, Google's assistant that enhances interaction with the headset. According to Android Authority and 9to5Google, the Galaxy XR is not limited to receiving commands; instead, it acts as an active assistant that observes, listens, and responds in a conversational manner.
