Scandal in San Lorenzo: Néstor Navarro resigned and Julio Lopardo will be the president
After the controversy over Marcelo Moretti's hidden camera, Ciclón continues to have very busy days on the institutional front
Julio Lopardo will finally be the one to assume as the new president of San Lorenzo, following the temporary departure due to Marcelo Moretti's leave from the top position in the blaugrana institution.
El Ciclón is going through one of the most delicate stages of its recent institutional history. The accusations against the businessman for alleged bribery cases have caused an internal earthquake that led to the mobilization of fans and a strong outcry in the stands of the Nuevo Gasómetro last Saturday.
In this context, and despite the lack of an official announcement, the current club board member will be the one to replace Moretti. This is because Néstor Navarro, who was going to replace the president, resigned from his position as first vice president.

Although Lopardo has the support of the official sector, the same is not reflected in the opposition, so his appointment could generate resistance in the short term. It remains to be seen how this transition will be politically solved within the board of directors.
The meeting in which Lopardo's appointment will be formalized and Moretti's leave and Navarro's resignation will be noted still has no set date, although it is expected to take place during the course of the week. Once held, the direction the club will take will be formally announced.

Who is Julio Lopardo
Nicknamed "El Pollo," Julio Lopardo is known for his business past at the helm of the firm Praver and his leadership role as vice president of Fernando Miele between 1995 and 1998.
Since that period, during which he also participated in the development of the youth divisions, he hadn't held a significant role in the club until the end of 2023, when he was appointed as a board member. Later, in August of the same year, he was appointed as head of the Football Council, replacing Néstor Ortigoza, who stepped down after a series of personal scandals.

Regarding his role in that position, Lopardo himself explained in an interview with DSports Radio that his function was "an intermediary with the president", while Alejandro Tamer, Ángel Bernuncio, and Norberto Ortega Sánchez were the ones "in the day-to-day of football".
However, only a month later, Lopardo resigned after a series of disagreements with Moretti, after he was confirmed as a board member in the new AFA structure. Following that episode, Lopardo returned to his position as a board member until being proposed as president in recent hours.
