Santiago Caputo met at Casa Rosada with Barry Bennett, Donald Trump's adviser
In the meeting, which lasted for more than two hours, topics from the strategic agenda between both countries were addressed
The main advisor to President Javier Milei, Santiago Caputo, held a meeting this Tuesday at the Casa Rosada with Barry Bennett, one of the political strategists closest to the U.S. leaderDonald Trump.
The meeting lasted for more than two hours in the office of the Argentine president's advisor. According to reports, they shared a lunch where the guest enjoyed a ribeye steak accompanied by salad. For dessert, they served him flan with cream and dulce de leche.
Both advisors have maintained a close relationship for at least a year, which facilitated the ties between the Argentine president and his American counterpart. In today's meeting, they addressed issues related to political strategy and the situation in each country.

"It's important to deepen the bond," Bennett emphasized at the end of the meeting, although he clarified that there is still no set date for a new meeting with Trump. "The free trade agreement is important and is close, but bureaucrats always delay it," he added.
Bennett, a key advisor in Trump's 2016 presidential campaign, played an essential role in organizing the meeting that Milei and Trump held last February during the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC), held at the Gaylord Hotel in Washington D.C.
The image of the handshake between both leaders, released by the White House that same day, was part of a strategy designed to highlight the Republican's support for the Argentine government.

According to some media outlets, Caputo and Bennett had already met on at least two previous occasions: first, at the Buenos Aires edition of CPAC held in December 2024 and later at the U.S. version of the event, which took place in Washington in February 2025.
Bennett's visit to Milei's government headquarters occurs in a context of growing rapprochement between sectors aligned with Trump and Milei's administration, framed in a shared political and ideological agenda.
Meanwhile, Trump has expressed in recent weeks his willingness to advance a free trade agreement with Argentina and praised President Javier Milei, describing him as a "great leader."
This gesture reinforces the Argentine leader's intention to consolidate commercial ties with the United States, a strategy that also aligns with the ideological affinity between both.
