The main hypothesis is that the woman might have caused her son's death and then committed suicide

Gisela De Yurka, 41 years old, and her son Sarú Ovejero, 7 years old, were found dead on Friday morning in the bathroom of a hotel located on Marcelo T. de Alvear Street at 1300, in the Buenos Aires neighborhood of Retiro. This Saturday, the results of the autopsy became known, which provided key data for the investigation.

According to the report carried out at the Judicial Morgue by the Forensic Medical Corps, the child died from asphyxia due to submersion—that is, drowning—and also presented a case of hypoglycemia. Meanwhile, the mother died from a "mixed mechanism": hypoglycemia, cutting wounds that would have caused her to faint and subsequent drowning in the bathtub.
Based on these results, the main hypothesis that the Justice system is investigating is that Gisela De Yurka may have caused her son's death and then may have committed suicide.
According to the preliminary reconstruction, investigators are looking into whether the woman injected insulin into the child and then drowned him. Subsequently, she herself may have injected insulin, may have inflicted cuts on herself, and finally may have drowned in the bathtub next to the minor.
The time of death indicates that the child died before his mother, a key piece of information that reinforces the suspicion of a homicide followed by suicide.

What was found in the room
The hotel manager was the one who found the bodies, after the woman and the child did not check out as scheduled for Friday. Both had checked in on Thursday.
The bodies were inside the bathtub. The room was not ransacked and no signs of violence or forced entry were detected, which made it possible to rule out the involvement of third parties. According to the investigators, no one else entered the room.
During the forensic work, the City Police found doses of insulin, syringes, and a scalpel. This last item is being analyzed as the possible object used for the cuts that the woman had.

People close to her indicated that the woman was not diabetic, although people in her close circle were.
The injuries and forensic results
The initial medical survey and the autopsy confirmed that the woman had seven cuts on her left forearm, four on her right forearm, and two on her neck. All were considered self-inflicted, based on the direction and location of the wounds.
The child, meanwhile, showed clear signs of asphyxia due to submersion. The case was classified as "investigation into the causes of death." It was placed under the responsibility of prosecutor Laura Belloqui, of Criminal and Correctional Prosecutor's Office No. 59.
