PlayStation 5 Pro could be about to take a leap in its graphical performance. A new rumor indicates that Sony will soon announce a major update linked to its artificial intelligence upscaling technology.
The focus would be on improving the visual experience, increasing the frames-per-second rate and narrowing the gap with the most modern PCs. If it is confirmed, it would be one of the most relevant upgrades since the launch of the console.

What PSSR 2.0 is and when it would be announced
According to leaks published by user Gust_FAN on X (formerly Twitter), the PSSR 2.0 update —PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution— would arrive between January and March. It is an improved version of the AI-based upscaling system that PS5 Pro uses today.
The leaker has already been right with previous data, such as the design of PS5 Slim and the technical presentation of PS5 Pro in 2024. That's why the rumor gained traction within the gaming community.
What improvements the new update would bring
Among the most notable changes, PSSR 2.0 would make it possible to increase FPS in games that today hover around 70 or 80 frames. It would also improve resolution in classic titles, especially from the PS4 catalog.

In addition, new debugging tools for developers would be added, along with a system similar to AMD FSR4, designed to improve image quality.
