Sotelo corrected Kicillof's minister and exposed the million-dollar debt with Garrahan.

The symbol of Argentine pediatric health was turned into a center of ideological activism by Kirchnerism

While the national government moves forward with an unprecedented restructuring of the State, alarming data emerge regarding how Kirchnerism used sensitive public agencies—such as Hospital Garrahan—to impose its ideological apparatus, while neglecting the most urgent matter: children's health. Added to this is the confirmation of a multi-million peso debt by Axel Kicillof's Buenos Aires provincial government, whose administration has accumulated unpaid debts with the main jointly managed hospitals.

The Secretary of Worship and Civilization, Nahuel Sotelo, was the one who exposed this double standard of Kirchnerism: the progressive narrative on one hand and the real cuts in healthcare on the other. "And the Minister himself lies. Very skillfully, he talks about 2025. He forgets all the previous years. He also forgets about the 149 billion pesos (328 million pounds) that the province owes to the jointly managed hospitals. Five hospitals, all five in the Third electoral section", Sotelo denounced through his account on X.

In the same vein, Sotelo publicly unsettled Buenos Aires Health Minister Nicolás Kreplak, whom he accused of hiding or ignoring the specific debt with Garrahan, which amounts to 4,000 million pesos (8.8 million pounds) solely for unpaid IOMA services.

These figures are even more shocking when contrasted with the ideological waste within the hospital during the years of Kirchnerist hegemony. Instead of strengthening pediatric care, Garrahan channeled public resources into symbolic, activist initiatives that were entirely unrelated to medical practice.

Among these, the creation of committees such as "Gender and Diversity Assistance" and "Different Sexual Development" stands out, spaces composed of both medical and non-medical staff, which organized events such as the inauguration of murals for "International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women" or the installation of a "red bench" as a symbol of the fight against femicide.

Guillermo González Prieto, then president of the hospital's Board of Directors, went so far as to say:  "It is a source of pride to inaugurate this red bench at Hospital Garrahan". This statement sums up an administration that prioritized activism over medicine and used an internationally renowned institution as a propaganda platform.

Additionally, committees as unnecessary as the "Smoke-Free Hospital" remained active, whose mission could have been solved with a simple "No Smoking" sign, but which required its own human resources and organizational structure.

The most concerning aspect, however, was the existence of a specialized team to "accompany" gender identity change processes in minors. According to its own objective, this group sought to "support the care of children and adolescents in the process of transitioning their gender identity and aspects related to their sexual orientation, from a perspective of rights, diversity, universality, and equity with individuals and their families". Hormonal and surgical mutilation of minors was funded by the State under an ideological rhetoric that has little or nothing to do with medical science.

In this context, Javier Milei's government decided to move forward decisively. As part of the administrative rationalization process, the absurd Gender Committee and other ideological structures were eliminated. This measure allowed not only for economic savings, but also for a return to Garrahan's essential focus: excellence in pediatric care.
