A female officer reported him for assault and coercion in official housing

The Spanish justice system opened an investigation against José Ángel González Jiménez, Deputy Operational Director (DAO) of the National Police, after admitting a complaint for alleged sexual assault filed by a subordinate. The high-ranking officer was appointed during the tenure of the Interior Minister, Fernando Grande-Marlaska, which adds a political dimension to a case with a strong institutional impact.
The case was assigned to the Section on Violence Against Women of the Court of First Instance of Madrid. The investigating judge summoned the chief commissioner to testify as the accused on March 17, a day on which the complainant, an officer of the same force, must also appear. The admission for processing triggered a formal investigation for alleged crimes of sexual assault, coercion, psychological injury, and embezzlement of public funds.

According to the complaint, there was a prior emotional relationship between the complainant and the DAO that was marked — according to the officer — by a pronounced hierarchical asymmetry. The civil servant states that this power imbalance allegedly led to a dynamic of psychological control that intensified after the breakup.
The main incident reported occurred on April 23, 2025. The officer was on duty at the Coslada police station when, according to her account, she received repeated calls from the DAO requiring her immediate presence. After her initial refusal, the superior officer allegedly invoked his authority to order her to leave her post and travel in an unmarked police vehicle to a restaurant where he was located.
Subsequently, still according to the complainant's account, the commissioner instructed her to drive him to his official residence, which depends on the Interior Ministry. The reported events allegedly took place at that residence. The officer keeps that she expressly rejected any approach and that, despite this, she suffered an assault involving physical violence. After managing to leave the premises, she returned to the police station to return the official vehicle and then went to her home.

The complaint also describes alleged subsequent coercion, persistent contact, and job offers that, according to the complainant, sought to prevent her from formalizing the accusation. In addition, she states that there was indirect pressure within the police structure. The officer is currently on psychological leave and is not allowed to carry a service weapon, in accordance with what is stated in the court filing.
The case takes on particular institutional gravity because of the position that the suspect holds within the National Police and because of the alleged improper use of public resources. The judicial investigation must now determine the strength of the evidence and the procedural course of a case that directly affects the Interior Ministry and places one of the main operational heads of the state's security forces under scrutiny.
