Square Enix has confirmed the release date for Dragon Quest VII Reimagined, the remake of the classic RPG that defined a generation. The title will arrive on February 5, 2026 for PS5, Nintendo Switch, Switch 2, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam and the Microsoft Store.
The announcement was made during the latest State of Play from Sony, where a new trailer was also presented, showcasing part of its gameplay.

The remake introduces a handcrafted artistic direction, with a diorama aesthetic that reinterprets the iconic designs of Akira Toriyama. The environments, towns, dungeons, and creatures acquire an almost tangible appearance, as if they were living miniatures within a carefully constructed world.
The overall structure of the game remains faithful to the original, with travel between islands and eras and the classic magic tablet system that allows new areas to be unlocked. However, quality-of-life improvements have been added, such as a more intuitive interface, options to speed up battles, and an auto-battle mode designed to streamline exploration.
Updated gameplay and additional content
The turn-based combat system has been revised to offer greater dynamism and customization. In addition, it will now be possible to eliminate weak enemies directly from the map without having to enter battle.
The game will include three launch DLCs: an arena of bosses from the Erdrick trilogy, a pack of outfits inspired by Dragon Quest XI, and a set of Slime equipment. Thirteen minutes of gameplay were also shown during the Tokyo Game Show 2025.
Special editions and price
Square Enix has confirmed two launch versions: the Digital Deluxe, with 48-hour early access, and the Collector's Edition. The latter will include a SteelBook, a Slime plush, a ship-in-a-bottle figure, and the special "White Wolf" costume for the character Ruff.
