The official River candidate, who is leading the polls for Saturday's elections, spoke about the projects for the Millonario's stadium
Next Saturday, River's members will elect their new president on an election day that will mark the end of Jorge Brito's term, as he steps down after four years in office. Among the five candidates competing, the favorite according to polls is Stéfano Di Carlo, the official party's representative.
In this regard, one of the main pillars of the official party's campaign is the expansion and modernization of Estadio Monumental, which recently underwent a major renovation. In an interview with Clarín, Di Carlo revealed that the roofing project is highly advanced and will allow for an increase in the current capacity.
"We have a stadium roofing project that is highly advanced and, in addition, will allow us to further expand its capacity. If the members elect us and we continue on this path of growth, Monumental will exceed 100,000 people in capacity," the executive explained. He also detailed that the plan includes 15,000 new seats, which will be added to the 24,000 already available in the lower Sívori and Centenario stands, primarily reserved for members with up-to-date dues.
El poyecto de techado estaría muy avanzado
In another part of the interview, Di Carlo referred to Marcelo Gallardo, with whom the official party keeps a close institutional relationship: "We support Marcelo with conviction, not only because of his history and what he represents for River, but also because of the quality professional he is. Maintaining a project in victory is easy; the real challenge is to do so when things are not going well," he emphasized.
Finally, he praised Muñeco's significance in the club's history: "His intelligence sets him apart. His time as a player was brilliant, but as a coach he managed to surpass himself. The titles he achieved are unforgettable, both for their number and the way he won them, always true to River's philosophy," Di Carlo concluded.
With promises of infrastructure, sporting continuity, and institutional management, the official party seeks to extend a cycle that, according to surveys, enjoys broad support among the members of the Millonaria entity.
It is worth noting that, in addition to Di Carlo, the other tickets seeking to lead the club from Núñez are headed by Carlos Trillo, Luis Belli, Pablo Lunati and Daniel Kiper, in an election that promises high member turnout.
