Minister Sturzenegger announced that the government will allow the importation of new and used cars for personal use
The national government is preparing a measure aimed at opening up the importation of cars, both new and used, for personal use. The initiative seeks to facilitate access to vehicles and increase competition in the local automotive market.
Until now, only companies could import cars. With this change, any citizen will be able to bring a car from abroad without depending on national dealerships.

What changes with this decision?
The importation of vehicles will no longer be limited to companies. Individuals will also be able to do so, something that until now was only possible in special cases such as diplomats or people with disabilities.
This measure will expand the range of models and will give people the chance to access cars that are not currently sold in the country. In addition, it is expected to generate a decrease in prices due to greater competition.
Sturzenegger confirmed the measure
The Minister of Deregulation, Federico Sturzenegger, previewed the announcement in an interview with Neura. He stated that the objective is to simplify the process for citizens.

"We're going to make it easier for people to personally import vehicles. Previously, you were required to have the Model Configuration License to approve it. But if it is already allowed to circulate in Europe or the United States, we're going to assume that it will also work here," he said.
What will happen with used cars?
Sturzenegger also referred to used cars: "We're evaluating allowing their importation under much broader conditions than the current ones."

Currently, used cars can only be brought in under specific regimes.
A measure designed for the people
The government emphasizes that the spirit of the measure is to benefit the average citizen. "Javier Milei's government is always thinking about the people," the minister said.
The new policy seeks to promote freedom and open the market to new opportunities for those who want to access a car without paying excessive prices.
