Driven by a strong audience response, Superman, the new DC Studios film, reached $406 million at the global box office after its second weekend in theaters. The film thus becomes the first major success of the new era led by James Gunn, who directs the movie and heads the studio's narrative renewal.
Starring David Corenswet in the role of the Man of Steel, the production managed to gross over $230 million in the United States, while the international market contributed another $171.8 million, despite a more modest performance in countries such as China.
Superman as the cornerstone of DC universe's reconstruction
Beyond the numbers, the release of Superman carries strong symbolic value: it represents the formal reboot of the DC universe following the conclusion of the previous era with titles such as The Flash and Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom. This relaunch aims to build a new, cohesive universe, with Superman as its central figure.

Warner Bros. already has new productions in development stemming from this film: Supergirl and Clayface are confirmed for 2026, and a new installment of Wonder Woman is also moving forward. The strategy aims for a unified and sustained narrative over time, similar to the approach popularized by Marvel Studios.
