Balanced budget and end of the fiscal lie that sustained Kirchnerism for decades

Compartir:

November 2025 left a figure that marks a turning point in Argentina's economic history:+$2,128,009 million in primary surplus and +$599,954 million in financial surplus. It is not a technical achievement. It is a moral and political definition. The fiscal surplus stopped being a slogan and became a non-negotiable State policy. With that, the heart of the Kirchnerist model was broken: spending without limit, lying with the budget, and eroding everything with inflation.

For decades, Argentina lived under a regime of fiction. Fabricated budgets, inflated revenues, hidden expenditures, and chronic deficit as a way of doing politics. That system needed inflation, controls, and restrictions to survive. Today, for the first time, there is an opinion on a balanced Budget that reflects reality. Without tricks. Without narrative. The open tap of the old politics was shut off, and when the State stops lying, the economy starts to become orderly.

That fiscal order is the cause, not the consequence, of everything that came afterward. The re-monetization phase is not an experiment: it is the logical step of an economy that stopped financing itself through money printing. With surplus and reserve accumulation, inflation loses fuel. Wholesale prices rose just 1.6% in November and total 23.2% in eleven months. It is not magic. It is discipline. The elections passed, Milei won, and expectations stopped being held hostage by fear of populism.

That's why "Country Risk" broke through 600 basis points and reached lows not seen since 2018. It did not fall because of the markets' goodwill. It fell because a reform agenda is moving forward that Kirchnerism tried to sabotage from day one. They wanted chaos in order to return. They could not. That drop in risk is not abstract: it means cheaper credit for companies and families.

Because everything responds to the same logic: clear rules that free up investment and reactivate the real economy. RIGI already totals US$ 62,000 million between approved and pre-approved projects, more than 8% of GDP, and it marks the return of something that populism had destroyed: the ability to think big and long term. An Argentina with GDP growth, increased consumption, expansion of exports, and a trade balance that is positive once again. An Argentina that is beginning to unlock productive projects in the provinces, such as salmon farming in Tierra del Fuego or mining in Mendoza. All data that make the opposition's narrative uncomfortable because it was everything that Kirchnerism banned in the name of an ideological agenda that hates wealth and work.

Even the labor market ended up disproving the catastrophism. While they talked about "industrycide" and massive closures, unemployment fell from 6.6% to 6.3%. They lied because they needed the plan to fail. They failed because reality is simple: when the economy is freed, jobs appear. When jobs and credit appear, something happens that clientelism can't tolerate: 20,000 families gained access to homeownership through Banco Nación. Predictability and stable rules replaced political favors.

That's why labor modernization is so strongly resisted by those who led Argentines to live between precariousness and fear. They do not oppose it to protect workers, but to preserve a rigid system that expelled jobs, blocked investment, and turned work into a hostage of union bureaucracy. The reform that the Government is promoting aims at exactly the opposite: more formality, more hiring, and more social mobility. Fewer lawsuits, less extortion, and more free agreements between parties. That is what the old regime can't tolerate: that employment stops being an instrument of political control and becomes once again a path of personal progress. Because when work is freed, the power of the political broker weakens. When the broker falls, the model that lived off managing poverty also falls.

The surplus is not a cold number. It is the limit on politics. It is the proof that the State can stop devouring society. For the first time in decades, Argentina stopped debating how to distribute misery and started debating how to sustain the order that makes prosperity possible.
