The new F-16 Fighting Falcon aircraft, incorporated yesterday into the Argentine Air Force, carried out their first flight over the City of Buenos Aires this morning.
The flyover, which lasted about 7 minutes, marked the operational debut of the fighter jets acquired by Argentina and symbolized a historic leap in national defense capability. It began around 8 a.m., when the aircraft entered through the Costanera Norte area and proceeded in a controlled low pass at about 2,297 feet (700 meters) of altitude.
In different parts of the city—especially at Plaza de Mayo, the Obelisk, and the Congress area—hundreds of people gathered to witness the passage of the new fighter jets. The public recognizes that these symbolize the greatest modernization of the Air Force in decades.
Route through Buenos Aires landmarks
The F-16s began their route skirting the coast and then headed toward Plaza de Mayo, where it was possible to see them fly over the Casa Rosada. From there, they continued toward Avenida 9 de Julio, passing over the Obelisk, and proceeded toward the National Congress.
