The final of Stranger Things arrived after almost a decade on the air and millions of viewers around the world. The last episode, released on Netflix, wrapped up the main arcs with a battle that did not go unnoticed.
According to its creators, the ending was directly inspired by Baldur’s Gate 3, one of the most influential video games of recent years.

Baldur’s Gate 3, the key behind the ending of Stranger Things
In an interview with Variety, the Duffer brothers explained how they conceived the final showdown against Vecna and the Mind Flayer. The reference to the Dungeons & Dragons universe was central from the beginning.
Matt Duffer said that, while they were writing the series finale, he was playing Baldur’s Gate 3. That experience ended up shaping the narrative direction of the final episode.
A battle conceived as a role-playing "party"
The main idea was clear: no one could defeat the villain alone. Just like in the game, the only way to win was for the entire group to work together.
