Six Chileans, one Colombian, and one Venezuelan, one of whom is under 15 years old, robbed the home of Carolina 'Pampita' Ardohain

Insecurity in Buenos Aires has a new chapter and a foreign face. An eight-member gang of criminals, made up of six Chileans, one Venezuelan, and one Colombian, broke into the home of model and TV host Carolina "Pampita" Ardohain, in Barrio Parque, from where they took a safe that was 1.50 meters (4 feet 11 inches) tall and weighed 292 kilograms (644 pounds). Among those arrested, there is a 15-year-old minor, which adds gravity to the case. Three of those involved entered the country illegally, while the others had arrived earlier this year.
The arrest took place after an operation by the City Police, who intercepted seven of the suspects at a hotel located at Callao 44, just meters from the National Congress, and the remaining one in La Boca, while he was driving a black Fiat Cronos. During the raids, two of the three vehicles used in the robbery were seized—a Volkswagen Suran with a tampered license plate and the Cronos—as well as burglary tools such as lock picks and crowbars, and belongings that Pampita identified as hers.

Security cameras proved crucial in reconstructing the criminals' movements. According to the City Security Minister, Horacio Giménez, "They are adults, all Chileans are here [in Callao] and a Venezuelan in La Boca. They have no criminal records because they have been in the country for a short time. We are waiting for information from the Embassy to see if they have records in Chile. They are all young. They entered through the back of the house, broke a glass door, and entered there. In the hotel rooms, we found belongings that Miss Pampita recognizes as her own." Giménez described the organization as "a professional gang."

The robbery took place between Friday night and early Saturday morning, taking advantage of the storm and the absence of the homeowner, who had traveled to Madrid for work commitments. It was not until Sunday, upon her return, that Pampita noticed the disappearance of the safe and reported the incident. Among the stolen items were cell phones with personal photographs of high sentimental value, which she was able to recover after police procedures.
The investigation was led by Buenos Aires prosecutor Eduardo Rosende and officers from the Communal Investigations Division 14 and Communal Police Station 3. The raids confirmed the presence of burglary tools and valuable items belonging to the victim, although the safe has not yet been found.
