The United States will temporarily close its embassy in Jerusalem
Amid the enormous tension surrounding the Middle East, the United States has decided to close its embassy in Jerusalem for the next few days
The United States Department of State announced this Tuesday the temporary closure of its embassy in Jerusalem, which will remain closed from Wednesday, June 18 to Friday, June 20. The measure is being taken due to the security situation in the region and in compliance with the guidelines issued by the Israeli army's Home Front Command (IDF).
In a statement released through the social network X, the Department of State explained that both the embassy in Jerusalem and the consular sections in Jerusalem and Tel Aviv will suspend their operations during those three days. The decision is in response to concerns for the safety of diplomatic personnel and American citizens who visit these facilities.
Although no specific details have been provided regarding the nature of the threat or the current level of risk, the closure takes place amid an escalation of tensions in the region, where armed clashes and security incidents have increased in recent weeks.

The statement also clarifies that, for now, no specific mechanism has been activated to assist American citizens in leaving Israel.
However, citizens are urged to stay informed through official channels and to follow the security recommendations issued both by the embassy and by Israeli authorities.
This measure underscores the level of concern for stability in the region and reflects the close coordination between American and Israeli authorities. The embassy is expected to reassess the situation before Friday and to promptly communicate any updates regarding the reopening of its services.
