They raided the Villa Giardino Municipality due to an investigation into land fraud.

So far, there are ten defendants and seven detainees in a case that has uncovered criminal schemes involving lots in Córdoba

The Prosecutor's Office of Instruction of Cosquín, headed by Nelson Lingua, ordered a search of the municipal offices of Villa Giardino on Friday. The measure was taken as part of an investigation into the irregular sale of lots in various towns in the province.

The procedure was carried out without incident and with the cooperation of municipal employees and officials. According to reports, information was requested and verified with municipal employees and officials, although no documents or electronic devices were seized.

"During the morning, we were surprised by a search. We have no knowledge of the case, but the Municipality complied with all the Prosecutor's Office requirements as part of the investigation into the sale of lots from a subdivision located on the border of the Santa Cecilia and La Cumbre neighborhoods, due to a dispute between private parties dating back to October 2024," stated Luis Delsemme, a member of the Mayor's Office Secretariat, to Radio La Minga.

The case arose from complaints by affected residents and was initiated in 2023 by prosecutor Paula Kelm, who opened the first proceedings. Since then, the investigation has added ten defendants, seven of whom remain in pretrial detention. Among them is the former director of the Caminera Police, which led to a significant political and institutional impact.

The crimes under investigation are multiple and include fraud, document forgery, coercion, theft, and damages related to the sale of land. In recent months, various operations have been carried out in the towns of Colón, San Alberto, San Javier, and Punilla. According to the prosecutor's office, the number of victims can't yet be determined, as the number of those affected is still under evaluation.

This procedure took place after the scandal over the arrest of the head of the Caminera, Maximiliano Ochoa Roldán, at the end of June. The parallel investigation led by prosecutor Guillermo González detected a link with a civilian from Córdoba connected to the Cosquín organization. That connection made it possible to identify officers with access to official databases that were used for illegitimate purposes.

In June, eleven simultaneous searches were carried out in Córdoba Capital and in other towns such as Unquillo, La Calera, and Huerta Grande. Computers, cell phones, weapons, money, and documents related to the fraud network were seized there. González confirmed that more evidence is being analyzed and declined to provide further details due to the ongoing gag order.

According to the accusation, the structure used public information to collect debts, set fees, or act in legal defenses outside the law. The use of criminal records and official databases was a central part of the scheme. For investigators, the exploitation of public functions for private purposes is one of the most serious aspects of this case.
