They replaced Franco Colapinto in the Italian GP practice session, and this is how he reacted.
The Argentine driver will not participate in the first free practice session at Monza
Franco Colapinto faces the Italian Grand Prix hoping to score his first points in the Formula 1 championship. However, his participation in the weekend began with an unexpected development: the young Argentine driver was replaced by Paul Aron in the first free practice session, which will take place on Friday, September 5 at the iconic Monza circuit.
The news surprised his fans, but Colapinto quickly clarified that this is a common situation within the calendar of the premier category of motorsport.
In a conversation with ESPN, Colapinto explained very naturally that his absence from the first practice session is due to a Formula 1 regulation, which requires teams to give up two free practice sessions per season so they can be filled by young or development drivers.

"Missing a free practice session is not a big deal. Last year I replaced Sargeant at Silverstone. It's normal, all drivers have to give up two sessions", said the 21-year-old driver.
"I have one left, which is this one here, and Gasly has two left", he added, referring to his teammate.
Colapinto, who is still in the midst of adapting to the top category, made it clear that these types of replacements are part of Alpine's planned development and that his main goal remains to improve his race performance.
How is Franco Colapinto doing in the drivers' championship?
Since his debut with Alpine, Colapinto has competed in nine Grands Prix without managing to score points. His best result so far was 11th place at the Dutch Grand Prix, where he was just outside the points zone.
These were his results in previous races:
- Imola: 16th
- Monaco: 13th
- Spain: 15th
- Canada: 13th
- Austria: 15th
- Great Britain: Did not participate (mechanical issue)
- Belgium: 19th
- Hungary: 18th
- Netherlands: 11th

Despite not having scored any points, the driver from Pilar has earned respect within the paddock for his consistency, his maturity behind the wheel, and his future potential. In Monza, he will look to seize every opportunity to get even closer to the top 10.
