A TN reporter insulted the flood victims and caused a scandal on social media
Giuliana Salguero encountered Areco residents after a controversial segment and replied with insults
Amid the devastating floods that hit San Antonio de Areco and other areas of the Buenos Aires province, the reporter Giuliana Salguero became embroiled in a major controversy. The journalist was not only criticized for her coverage on TN channel, but also for her aggressive reaction against affected residents who criticized her.
Everything began during a live broadcast on May 17, when Salguero covered the storm from one of the most affected areas. The reporter arrived in a truck, but when she tried to board a boat to show the scene, she was denied access because they were intended to rescue residents.
Hours later, she was seen in a second mobile unit trying to explain the precarious conditions in which they were working. "We are not far from where we started, but the current is taking us," she commented on air, in a tone more focused on her personal experience than on the local tragedy.

After that report, she did not appear live again, raising concerns about her condition. Later, from her Instagram, she posted a statement that she quickly deleted, where she showed wet belongings and launched a complaint: "Who thinks it's fair that I have to pay for this?"
Insults and mockery toward the affected
What ultimately ignited the controversy was her subsequent behavior on social media. On the program LAM (América TV) they exposed screenshots and audios in which the journalist insulted and belittled users who questioned her.
"She started arguing with people who had lost everything," reported Ángel de Brito. Her colleague, Pepe Ochoa, added: "The brawl started because of the mocking tone of her video; then she replied in a derogatory manner."
The private messages revealed the level of hostility. To a user who accused her of seeking ratings amid the disaster, Salguero replied: "Change the channel." She attacked another with a misogynistic phrase: "Keep showing your boobs, it suits you better."
Additionally, she sent insulting audios: "It's a shame that you dedicate yourself to writing to me, ridiculous... buy comics, idiot, or watch TikTok."

Internal issues with TN and criticism of production
The conflict also uncovered internal tensions at the channel. On X (formerly Twitter), the account @TeleBizarra claimed that Salguero's discontent was not new. It was indicated that she had felt unequal treatment compared to other colleagues, like Ana Ortiz.
A follower commented on Instagram that Ortiz was "treated like a queen," and the reporter replied: "I agree with every word you said." This statement fueled the hypothesis of an internal issue with TN's production, which also allegedly did not assist her adequately during the mobile broadcast.
A reaction that deepened the pain
Instead of empathizing with those who had lost everything, Salguero decided to put herself at the center of the scene. From the comfort of her home, she posted complaints, displayed her wet clothes, and even mocked others' tragedies. Her response was a series of insults that only worsened the situation.
The coverage, far from respectfully highlighting the suffering of Areco's residents, ended up turning into a disgraceful episode of contempt and media ego. What could have been an opportunity to show humanity ended up being a display of indifference and arrogance that still generates outrage.
