The president of the United States, Donald Trump, demanded this Monday that pharmaceutical companies release the data on the effectiveness of their COVID-19 vaccine. The presidential decision comes amid reforms to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
"It is very important for pharmaceutical companies to justify the success of their various drugs against Covid. Many people think they're a miracle that saved millions of lives. Others disagree! Since CDC is being torn apart by this issue, I want the answer, and I want it NOW," wrote the president on the social network Truth Social.
"I have been shown information from Pfizer and other companies that is extraordinary, but they never seem to show those results to the public. Why not? They continue with the next 'hunt' and let everyone tear each other apart, including Bobby Kennedy Jr. and CDC, trying to figure out the success or failure of the pharmaceutical companies' work on Covid," Trump continued.

Operation Warp Speed and doubts about the effectiveness of the vaccines.
In December 2020, when the virus originating from China struck the U.S. and the world, Trump launched a vaccination and resource deployment model that would later be imitated throughout the Western Hemisphere. Thus, the so-called Operation Warp Speed ensured that at least 70% of Americans received both doses of the COVID-19 vaccine.
Although the Republican leader has praised the development of vaccines against this Chinese flu, the doses administered by Moderna, Pfizer, and Johnson & Johnson were criticized for their low protection against new variants of the virus and for the high number of people who became infected despite having been inoculated.
Furthermore, surveys this year show that only 30% of Republicans now consider the Covid vaccine to be safe, while 55% of independents and 87% of Democrats continue to display blind faith in this product from the laboratories.
The science on vaccines has recently caused divisions within the health department led by Robert F. Kennedy Jr. Trump's health minister has clashed with the ministry's bureaucrats after ending health policies inherited from the Biden administration that made Covid inoculation mandatory for most healthy adults and children.
