Trump spoke about the crime against Iryna Zarutska and confronted the Democrats about insecurity
The president criticized the disastrous security policies in cities governed by Democrats
President Donald Trump spoke this Tuesday about the brutal murder of Iryna Zarutska, the 23-year-old Ukrainian woman who was stabbed by a dangerous African American criminal with a criminal record while traveling on a public train in Charlotte, North Carolina.
The statement, accompanied by photographs of the victim and the killer, reaffirmed the U.S. president's stance on security and the need for stricter policies against crime in the country.
“For too long, Americans have been forced to endure cities run by Democrats who release savage, bloodthirsty criminals to prey on innocent people. They've adopted a catch-and-release policy for thugs and murderers,” Trump stated.

In his message, the president emphasized that Zarutska, who arrived in the United States with her family in 2022 as a refugee after the Russian invasion of Ukraine, was a direct victim of these policies that allow repeat offenders to continue committing serious crimes.
The attack occurred on August 22 at the East/West Boulevard station on the Lynx Blue Line. Zarutska was returning home after her shift at a pizzeria when she was attacked by Decarlos Brown Jr., a Black man with a criminal record.
The assailant, who was immediately arrested, will face charges of first-degree murder. Trump described the killer as a “deranged monster” who already had 14 prior arrests, and he stressed that this case reflects the danger posed by the security policies implemented by Democrats in several U.S. cities.

The president took the opportunity to criticize the management of Democratic mayors in cities with high crime rates, mentioning that 24 of the 25 most dangerous cities in the country are under their governments. Trump cited recent violence statistics in Chicago, where 50 people were killed and hundreds were injured by gunfire, and he stated that it is “time to stop this madness”.
Trump also highlighted his experience in transforming Washington, D.C., emphasizing that he managed to drastically reduce crime and that his model could be applied in other cities. “The people of our country need to insist on protection, safety, law, and order. We've shown that it's possible... and we're going to make America safe again,” he said.
The death of Iryna Zarutska, a young woman who had arrived in the United States with a promising future, shocked public opinion, and the U.S. president spoke about the urgent need for measures to protect citizens from the violence allowed by Democrats.
