The demonstrations in Iran began in late December and spread throughout the entire country
The president of the United States, Donald Trump, issued a direct warning to the terrorist regime of Iran by stating that his administration will respond harshly if the Iranian authorities kill demonstrators who are taking part in protests in different regions of the country.
The statements were made during an interview granted this Thursday to journalist Hugh Hewitt, amid a growing wave of social unrest driven by the economic crisis that the Islamic Republic is going through.
In that context, Trump maintained: "I've let them know that if they start killing people, which they usually do during their riots (they have many riots), if they do it, we're going to hit them very hard".

The demonstrations in Iran began at the end of December and, according to reports from local media, there are already at least 36 people dead. According to those same reports, thousands of citizens have been arrested since the beginning of the unrest. The rejection of the regime headed by the supreme leader, Ali Khamenei, has spread steadily over time and across the territory.
The origin of the protests is linked to a deep economic crisis, characterized by the collapse of the national currency and the widespread deterioration of living conditions. In this context, hundreds of thousands of people went out to protest in 92 cities distributed across 27 of the country's 31 provinces. The geographical breadth of the mobilizations reflects the scope of the social unrest.
One of the notable features of these protests has been the diversity of the sectors involved. Merchants, students and workers are taking part in the demonstrations, showing that the demand isn't limited to a specific group, but instead cuts across different strata of Iranian society, which is tired of the Islamic terrorist regime.

Meanwhile, regarding the fatalities, the official figure includes two members of the regime's forces, while the rest are citizens. Meanwhile, human rights organizations reported that nearly a thousand people were injured during the clashes and that more than 2,000 arrests took place in just eleven days.
The situation in Tehran, the country's capital, continues to be especially delicate. Despite a massive deployment of security forces, the protests haven't been contained. The demonstrators continue to express their rejection of the current political and economic course and demand the end of the Islamic regime.
