The city of Abdanan, located in the Iranian province of Ilam, has reportedly fallen into the hands of protesters and rebel groups, who managed to take control of the area after clashes with the regime's security forces, according to reports from opposition media.
If confirmed, this would be the first city that has reportedly come under protesters' control in the context of the current uprising against the Iranian regime, while the protests continue to spread in other regions of the country.
According to the reports released, the anti-regime demonstrations in Abdanan have intensified recently, with large crowds of people in the streets. In this context, the clashes with the security forces forced the officers to withdraw from different parts of the city, which reportedly allowed the protesters to assume control of key areas.

Iranian opposition media indicated that units of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) tried to confront the protesters in Abdanan, but they encountered strong resistance.
