Two missing siblings are being searched for in Pilar: they were on their way to school and never arrived

Facundo and Santiago, aged 15 and 13, were last seen on Monday morning in the Santa Silvina neighborhood

Facundo and Santiago, two brothers aged 15 and 13, have been missing for more than 24 hours in the town of Pilar, Buenos Aires Province. The last image of them was captured on Monday morning, shortly after 6:30, when they were walking together through the Santa Silvina neighborhood, dressed in their school uniforms and heading toward school. They never arrived.

The family immediately filed a report, and since then, the police have been working intensively to locate them. On Tuesday morning, Sebastián, the boys' adoptive father, spoke on Arriba Argentinos and shared details about the family context, visibly distressed as he accompanied the operations at the entrance to the neighborhood.

"There are still no updates. Yesterday we searched for them until five in the morning, but the fog didn't help. Now the police are expanding the search radius," the man said, unable to hide his desperation.

Facundo and Santiago are biological brothers of Russian nationality. They were adopted nine years ago by Sebastián and his wife, who have raised them as part of a blended family ever since.

Although in 2023 Santiago staged a brief escape on his own, which turned out to be a prank without major consequences, this time the situation is different: both have gone missing together, and as the hours pass without news, concern increases.

According to Sebastián, days before the incident, the boys had played a prank that led to a family reprimand, but nothing that would have suggested a decision like this. "My theory is that, having been abandoned in their childhood, they have an unconscious need to reaffirm that we're always going to be there to look for them, to rescue them, no matter what they do," he analyzed.

The search is now focused on a rural area surrounding the neighborhood, an extensive and difficult-to-access terrain. The main fear is that the boys may have left on their own and are now disoriented or at risk.

"The countryside around here is immense, and that's the concern now," journalist Sebastián Domenech added from the scene. After the teenagers are found, authorities hope to learn their version of why they've decided to leave their adoptive family on multiple occasions.
