After years of uncertainty, Ubisoft formally reactivated the saga with the announcement of The Division 3 in 2023. Now, statements from executive producer Julian Gerighty are rekindling expectations by stating that the next game could have the same transformative impact as the franchise's first title. The creative, who is also directing Star Wars Outlaws, revealed in advance that the project is in full development and described it as a "monster" under Massive Entertainment's responsibility.
Although no release dates or platforms were revealed, the magnitude of the work in progress indicates that Ubisoft is once again making a strong bet on one of its most valuable intellectual properties. The company is seeking to replicate the formula that in 2016 positioned The Division as a global success in the third-person shooter genre.
The progress of development: ambition, silence, and growing expectations
Massive Entertainment is actively working on the production of The Division 3, but it is keeping most of the details about mechanics, narrative, and design under wraps. Gerighty explained that the pressure to match the impact of the first title is high, but it also works as an internal engine to raise the project's quality.

Currently, the team is focusing on:
- Technological innovation applied to gameplay and the open world
- Review of progression and combat systems
- Redesign of the multiplayer experience
- Greater integration between narrative and player actions
However, Gerighty avoided confirming concrete elements regarding changes, game modes, or the narrative direction. The secrecy is part of Ubisoft's usual strategy, which prefers to show each advance only when it reaches a polished and presentable level.
