Ukraine's Armed Forces launched a series of precise attacks against two Russian refineries and military supply depots in Luhansk

In the early hours of November 3, 2025, the Armed Forces of Ukraine carried out a coordinated operation against key targets of the Russian Federation, including refineries, fuel depots, and logistics centers in occupied territory. According to the Ukrainian General Staff, the attacks are part of an offensive aimed at weakening the operational and supply capacity of Russian forces.

The main target was the Saratov refinery, one of the most important and oldest in Russia, whose production is largely intended for military fuel supply. The attack caused a fire in the main units of the ELOU AVT-6 complex, generating a direct impact on the energy reserves allocated to the war front.

Damage in Tuapse and Lugansk: Russia loses logistical capacity

In addition to Saratov, Ukraine confirmed the successful bombing of the RN-Tuapse refinery, in the Krasnodar region, where the flames affected the loading infrastructure of the Tuapse seaport, on the Black Sea. This is a key point for the export of Russian hydrocarbons and for the resupply of its armed forces.

Simultaneously, Ukrainian units destroyed supply depots in Rozkishne and Dovzhansk, in the occupied Lugansk region, dismantling part of the Russian logistics network that supports the offensive in eastern Ukraine. The General Staff reported that the operation was successful with no casualties reported and that it will continue as long as Moscow keeps its aggression.

A strategy targeting Moscow's economic heart

Ukrainian authorities emphasized that the attacks on Russian energy infrastructure seek to erode the economic base that finances the war. The Saratov refinery, with a processing capacity of 4.8 million tons per year, represents an essential component of Russian internal and military supply. Its shutdown constitutes a far-reaching blow to the Kremlin's war machine.

A spokesperson for the SBU quoted by The Kyiv Independent stated that the campaign "will continue systematically" until Russian refining capacity and its oil export revenues, the main sources of funding for Putin's war effort, are significantly reduced.

Collateral effects on maritime transport and insurers

The spokesperson for the Ukrainian Navy, Dmytro Pletenchuk, warned that the attacks will have "long-term consequences" for the Russian economy, especially in maritime transport. The increase in war risk in the Black Sea could raise insurance premiums and deter shipping companies from operating in the area, restricting Russian energy trade.

Meanwhile, Russian authorities confirmed damage at the Tuapse port and to docked vessels, although no casualties were reported. Emergency agencies in Krasnodar Krai are attempting to contain the fires and restore the operation of the terminal, which remains partially paralyzed.

Ukraine consolidates its technological dominance in drone warfare

The recent attacks also highlight Ukraine's technological and tactical superiority in the use of long-range drones. These devices have enabled precision operations in areas far from the front, striking high-value strategic targets without putting troops on the ground at risk.

Western military experts maintain that this capability represents a qualitative shift in the war, by allowing Kyiv to impose increasing costs on Moscow in its own territory and force a redistribution of its defensive resources.

An ongoing economic and military war

The Ukrainian campaign of attacks on Russian oil infrastructure is part of an economic war that seeks to reduce the Kremlin's energy revenues, which are responsible for financing the aggression against Ukraine and sustaining the regime's propaganda machinery.

The cumulative impact of these attacks has already forced Russia to redirect part of its exports and allocate greater resources to the protection of industrial facilities, progressively weakening its position in the conflict.
