Amid the reconstruction process that San Lorenzo is going through, with a transitional board of directors headed by Sergio Costantino until the elections in May, Marcelo Moretti returned to the scene and delivered strong statements.
In an interview with journalist Ignacio Genovart, the former president referred first to the legal situation that led to his departure. He confirmed that he submitted a brief to challenge the power vacuum and said he was confident of obtaining a favorable ruling: "I don't think the courts won't side with me. It is impossible for a judge not to understand that acts of absolute nullity took place," he stated.
In that context, Moretti left the door open to a political return and acknowledged that he is considering running in the May 30 elections. "It is a possibility for me to run in May. I believe I can win. I can't leave San Lorenzo like this," he said. Although he admitted that he receives constant criticism, he stressed that he doesn't allow himself to be influenced by the virtual climate: "I am not unaware of the fact that social media are very aggressive toward me, but I know it is not a real world."

The former president also hit back at the accusations that circulated during his administration and sought to deny reports about alleged irregular ties. "When I was campaigning, people said that I owed money to La 12. Later, people said that I owed money to drug traffickers, and I never had any kind of connection with drug traffickers," he asserted. "Fortunately, things went very well for me in life, and I was running the club, with mistakes, but I was running it very well," he added.
When asked about the video that caused controversy, the hidden camera footage in which he is seen putting away a wad of dollars, he acknowledged the negative impact but defended his actions: "Nobody liked that video, but people know everything I invested in San Lorenzo, that I would never have touched a single peso from the club, and that I am completely innocent."

Finally, Moretti spoke about his relationship with the fans and the legacy he hopes to leave at the club. "I hope that San Lorenzo's people remember me as a president who ended up fulfilling most of the things he promised in his campaign," the former president stated.
He concluded with a message of personal strength and hope of remaining in power: "That move they pulled on me is very difficult to erase, but one has to have the mental and physical strength to carry on. If I finish making up my mind, I believe I can win again."
